Wildcats win second consecutive season opener, 9-0
By Ms. Deborah Edwards-Onoro | September 2, 2009
The Plymouth varsity tennis team started the month of September off nicely with a sweep of Livonia Churchill. On Tuesday, September 1, Plymouth captured every point and won the dual match 9-0 (match photos).
The 5th doubles team captured attention when they won their first set 6-4 but lost the second set 5-7. Not to be phased or rattled, Mitch McKinstry and Joe Lindlbauer rallied to win the third set 6-3 to complete the sweep for Plymouth.
After watching the varsity matches, the junior varsity players wondered if they could achieve the same level of intensity and quality play as the varsity team. The players rose magnificently to the occasion and had equal amount of success winning 5-1 against Churchill.
Way to go players!
The players are excited for their next match on Thursday, September 3, 2009 against Canton on home courts. When asked if they were ready for the match, a varsity captain responded, “I’ve come here to do two things: to chew bubble gum and to beat Canton. I’m all out of bubble gum.”
