Summer camps and lessons

Do you want to improve your game before the fall season? Are you interested in securing a varsity spot on the high school team? Then consider signing up for the camps and lessons available at local tennis clubs, community colleges, as well as individual instruction by USPTA instructors. Here are a few options in our area:

Individual Instruction

Dave Farmer, Plymouth Wildcats Girls Tennis Coach, is offering individual lessons this summer. Dave is the former coach of the Eastern Michigan Women’s Tennis Team, and is currently the tennis pro at Farmington Tennis Club and Dearborn Racquet Club. Dave can be reached by email.

Huron Valley Tennis Club Tennis Camps

Huron Valley offers two different camps in the summer for high school players from June 16 to August 1. For more information, download the Huron Valley Tennis Club Spring/Summer brochure (PDF: 300K). Here are some details on the two camps:

Tournament Players Camp

The week-long camps are held Monday through Friday from 9:00am to noon. The camps are intended for serious tournament players pursuing a ranking or trying to improve current varsity singles position. Focus is on singles match play, strategy, and point play.

Huron Valley Tennis Club Member: $165/week, $34/day
Nonmember: $180/week, $37/day

High School Players Camp

The two-week camps meet Monday through Friday, from 12:30pm to 2:30pm. The camp prepares players for junior varsity teams and players planning to make varsity teams. Drilling, video analysis, ball machine practice, optional inter-club match play, T-shirt, prizes.

Huron Valley Tennis Club Member: $225/session, $23/day
Nonmember: $240/session, $25/day

Schoolcraft College Junior Tennis Camps

Schoolcraft College in Livonia is offering camps for tournament level tennis players from June 16 to August 14. The camps are held each day, Monday through Thursday, from 3:30pm to 6:30pm. The camp provides conditioning, drilling on serves, volleys, overheads, ground strokes, and match play. Registration form (PDF: 88K) is available.

Cost: $125/session (one week)
