Optional Practice

Coach Jim Tucker and Mr. Eric Batell will lead optional practices this week from 4:30pm to 6pm at the high school courts. Stop in for extra time on the courts, and tips for improving your game!

Pool Party

Many thanks to the Flemings who graciously offered to host a pool party at their house Tuesday, August 18th at 2pm. All tennis players are invited to attend the party. Bring your suit and towel. Feel free to bring snacks and drinks (no glass bottles please).

Maps will be handed out at the Huron Valley camp, or you can contact me for more information (webmaster) through the website contact form.

Suggestion: players may want to stop at your home after camp to eat lunch before coming to the pool party.

Stop by the Park courts for informal practices on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10AM and/or 7PM in June and July. Coach Kimball can supply you with extra tennis balls if needed.

If the Wildcats tennis team member is already a member of Huron Valley Tennis Club, payment will be billed. If the team member is not a member of Huron Valley Tennis Club, payment is due the first day of camp (paid to Huron Valley Tennis Club).

Individual Instruction

Dave Farmer, Plymouth Wildcats Girls Tennis Coach, is offering individual lessons this summer. Dave is the former coach of the Eastern Michigan Women’s Tennis Team, and is currently the tennis pro at Farmington Tennis Club and Dearborn Racquet Club. Dave can be reached by email.

Huron Valley Tennis Club Tennis Camps

Huron Valley offers two different camps in the summer for high school players from June 16 to August 1. For more information, download the Huron Valley Tennis Club Spring/Summer brochure (PDF: 300K). Here are some details on the two camps:

Tournament Players Camp

The week-long camps are held Monday through Friday from 9:00am to noon. The camps are intended for serious tournament players pursuing a ranking or trying to improve current varsity singles position. Focus is on singles match play, strategy, and point play.

Huron Valley Tennis Club Member: $165/week, $34/day
Nonmember: $180/week, $37/day

High School Players Camp

The two-week camps meet Monday through Friday, from 12:30pm to 2:30pm. The camp prepares players for junior varsity teams and players planning to make varsity teams. Drilling, video analysis, ball machine practice, optional inter-club match play, T-shirt, prizes.

Huron Valley Tennis Club Member: $225/session, $23/day
Nonmember: $240/session, $25/day

Schoolcraft College Junior Tennis Camps

Schoolcraft College in Livonia is offering camps for tournament level tennis players from June 16 to August 14. The camps are held each day, Monday through Thursday, from 3:30pm to 6:30pm. The camp provides conditioning, drilling on serves, volleys, overheads, ground strokes, and match play. Registration form (PDF: 88K) is available.

Cost: $125/session (one week)
