Kudos to Leist and Onoro families for helping install benches

Thanks to the Leist and Onoro families for helping to install the last six benches at the Park courts on Sunday, October 25, 2009. They were joined by Canton and Salem families in assembling and installing benches, building shelves for the concession stand, and assembling new tennis rollers.

With sunny skies and temperatures in the 50’s, it was the best weather in the past three years of installing benches. Great way to finish the project! Thanks to Salem Coach Lin Ware for coordinating the Park tennis court bench project for the past several years.

Sad news: Virginia North dies in head-on collision on M-14

Mrs. Virginia North died in a head-on car crash on M-14 last Thursday, October 22, 2009. Many current and past Plymouth Wildcats tennis players and their parents know Mrs. North from the Ann Arbor Junior Open. She and her husband Clare North (Huron Valley Tennis Club tennis professional) have coordinated the Ann Arbor Junior Open for years. For the past few years, she donated a square picnic table each year to the Park courts after the Junior Open.

Post your condolences and read more about Mrs. North in her obituary. Funeral services will be held at First Congregational Church in Ann Arbor, on State Street on Tuesday, October 27 at 11:00AM.

Bench assembly and installation: October 25, 2009

Bench assembly and installation of the last six benches at the Park courts is planned for Sunday, October 25 2009 at 1:00pm. Parents and team members from all three Park teams will be installing the benches. We’re still looking for volunteers to help (only 1 family has volunteered from our team).

For those interested in volunteering, please bring tools/supplies (bucket, shovel, ratchet, tape measure, and scissors). Each team is responsible for bringing 4 bags of Quikrete cement. One family is bringing a postdigger.

Meet at the concession stand at 1:00pm and look for Salem Coach Lin Ware who will be coordinating the work. See you there and thanks for your help!

Wildcats JV third at KLAA JV tournament

The Wildcats junior varsity team came in third out of eight teams at the KLAA JV tournament held Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the Park home courts.

In addition to earning the third place finish, Wildcat players took home medals including:

#2 doubles, 3rd place, bronze medal: Jason Guck and Muhammad Siwani
#3 doubles, 1st place, gold medal: Sourodeep Bandyopadhyay and Josh Postel
#7 doubles, 3rd place, bronze medal: Peyton Wilburn and Jared Ooms
#8 doubles, 3rd place, bronze medal: Rogee Matar and Anthony Veltri

Terrific job guys!

Wildcats JV wins over Grand Blanc 16-8

The Wildcats JV rolled past the visiting Grand Blanc Bobcats in the crossover division match on Tuesday, September 25, 2009 on home courts. With the Bobcats ranked in the top 10 for Division 1 boys tennis teams for the state, it was an impressive win for the Wildcats JV.

Way to go team!

The next junior varsity matches will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2009 when the Wildcats JV have two matches on the same day. The team members will be split to meet up with Plymouth Christian Academy on home courts as well as an away match against Walled Lake Central.

Wildcats shut out John Glenn 9-0; win division title for first time

The Plymouth Wildcats boys tennis team clinch the KLAA South Division title with a 9-0 win over John Glenn on Tuesday, September 15, 2009. The team finishes South Division dual match play with a perfect 5-0 record. Both doubles and singles players overwhelmed their opponents, with the majority of matches finishing quickly in straight set wins.

Wildcats JV enjoyed playing two teams on the same day, beating John Glenn JV 2-1 and improving their record against Canton Chiefs JV with a 7-7 tie.

With their South Division title win, the Wildcats continue match play with crossover matches against the other three KLAA Division champions.

Team pictures are scheduled for this Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 2:45pm in the PHS gym. Order envelopes will be handed out today at practice.

Players: be sure to bring a clean uniform to school to wear for team pictures. You can change into your uniform after school.

Celebrate Wildcats first ever division championship

Play like a superstar, party like a rockstar!

To celebrate the Wildcats first ever division championship, we will have a party at the Kimball home in Dexter, this Thursday, Sep 17, 2009.

Weather permitting, the party is from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, food and fun. Map and additional details will be available soon.

No practice on Thursday, Sep 17, 2009.

Plymouth Wildcats finish in 2nd place at Plymouth Invitational

Despite final round three-set thrilling wins, the Wildcats finished short one point, and came in as runner-up in their home tourney on Saturday, Sep 12, 2009. Plymouth Salem, with 19 points, won the championship trophy and Jackson High School came in third place.

It was a tight race throughout the day, as the three teams rose to the top of the eight team double-elimination tournament. The final winner was not known until the last hour hour of the tournament.

While a disappointment to not win first place, Wildcats players earned a dozen medals and trophies from the tournament. Way to go team!

Wildcats meet for breakfast before Plymouth Invitational Tournament

Join us for our “wake up and get ready” breakfast before the Plymouth Invitational Tournament on Saturday, September 12, 2009!

Players, parents, and family members are invited to meet for breakfast at Zack’s Restaurant at 6:30am. Zack’s is located at 9468 S Main St, just south of Ann Arbor Road. We’ll be done for breakfast in time to make it to the courts by 7:30am. Be sure to bring money to pay for your breakfast!
